Rain and more Rain. Some of the wettest places in the world.
MAWSYNRAM: India- The state of Meghalaya, reportedly is the rainiest place on Earth. This village receives over 467 inches of rain per year. According to Guinness Book of World Records, Mawsynram received 1000 inches of rainfall in 1985.
MOUNT EMEI: China- Situated at the western edge of the Sichuan Basin, is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. It rains pretty much all year-around, more than 250 days per year. It is considered tenth wettest places on earth.
TUTUNENDO: Colombia- Consists of six natural regions which depends on altitude, temperature, humidity, winds and rainfall. Its climate includes tropical rainforests, savannas, steppes, deserts and mountain climate. The area relies on agriculture, fishing, minerals, wood resources and tourism. It is considered to have the third highest rainfall in the world.
BIG BOG: Hawaii: it is reported to be the seventh wettest place on earth and has constant rainfall all year around. Of course, there is an argument that Mt. Waialeale is the wettest place in Hawaii but Big Bog has had the higher rainfall average over the last 30 years.
BIOKA ISLAND: Equatorial Guinea-is considered the wettest place in Africa. It is located on the West Coast of Africa and is the northernmost part of Equatorial Guinea. The island is volcanic and is covered by beautiful tropical rainforest.
MARTINSTOWN: England- won the competition by recording the most rain in 24 hours in 1955 being 279 mm, whereas Seathwaite, Cumbria has the highest rainfall recorded on annual basis, at around 3500 mm
BELLENDEN KER: Australia- Located near Cairns, in Queensland, is considered to be the wettest place in Australia. Not surprisingly as Queensland’s weather is tropical. Average rainfall is over 8000 mm, it is recorded the highest rainfall in a year of about 12,500 mm in 2000, and even holds the highest rainfall for a calendar month at 5387 mm in January 1979.
CROPP RIVER: New Zealand- it is also called as the ‘long white cloud’, and it certainly lives up to be a wet place. It is located on the west coast of the South Island and considered amongst the top five annual average rainfall places therefore one of the wettest places in the world.
DEBUNDSCHA: Cameroon- this village found at the foothills of Mount Cameroon exposed to the south Atlantic Ocean. This village receives and incredible amount of rain, in an area considered tropical and located close to Equator.
HENDERSON LAKE: Canada- also known as Hucuktlis lake, is understandably considered as the wettest place in North America. The lake is located in Vancouver island, British Columbia province with its coastline being the Pacific Ocean.
